This is the place to find out about getting your referee license.
JLYSSL organizes approximately 5-6 clinics each year to provide our club member with the opportunity to receive referee instruction and obtain their referee license. This satisfies one of the requirements for a team to participate in JLYSSL programs.
Members of the JLYSSL clubs who wish to pursue licensing should email a request to attend a class which includes your name, club affliation, email address, street address, phone number and date of birth.
- Minimum age is 14.
- Class is free for Jack London club members but there is a $40 referee registration fee paid to US Soccer if you pass the test
- Members of clubs outside JLYSSL must pay a $10 fee to cover course materials.
- Uniform must be purchased at the conclusion of the class at a cost of about $60.
- JLYSSL clubs will reimburse uniform expense after you officiate five (5) games in your first season as referee.
Entry Level Referee (Grade 8) clinics
Grade 8 Referees are licensed to officiate any level match, youth through adult.

Recreational Referee (Grade 9) clinics
Grade 9 Recreational Referees may officiate as either a Referee or Assistant Referee on recreational youth games for under-14 and younger only. They may not officiate older ages, competitive youth matches (Class 1), or adult matches.
