Our Rules
Jack London is a large, urban soccer league serving the children of Oakland, Alameda, and Piedmont. The rich diversity of our community provides our youth an exceptional opportunity to learn respect for others. The behavior of our players, coaches, parents, and spectators must honor what we all want our children to become.
To guide us we have the Laws of the Game, our League Playing Rules, and a Zero-Tolerance Policy that prohibits physical and verbal abuse, threats, and harassment. These rules are essential to the enjoyment of the game we love.
Managers and coaches are also responsible for reading, understanding and agreeing to abide by the match cancellation policy which is crucial to the conservation of our league's limited field and referee resources.

Our Discipline Process
Most rule violations are by players during matches, and are subject to the referee’s discretion. Sanctions may be found in the rules of the competitive leagues in which we play:

Occasionally, coaches and other adults are named in referee and incident reports. If you are named, we will contact you and ask you to describe in writing the incident from your point of view. Please respond within 24 hours of our request. If you do not respond, we will proceed to evaluate the incident based on other reports.
The Jack London Discipline Committee reviews all reports, seeks further information if necessary, and then issues a written discipline ruling. Our discipline is not an adversarial process, but rather the collective action of an organization we have all joined voluntarily.
If you wish to appeal a discipline ruling, please notify the Jack London President and Discipline Chair by e-mail within seven days. Appeals are heard by the Jack London board at its meeting the first Monday of each month, and require a $25 fee that is refunded if your appeal is successful.
